A Ray of Sunshine in Cloudy Cincinnati

It’s pretty well established that I’m not a fan of cold climates. However, two sure things that can make me suck it up and endure the shivering are the city of Cincinnati and following my darling sister around with a camera. I had recently taken her photos on Anna Maria Island, and this would be the second time I’d have the pleasure of capturing her during our sister shenanigans.

Favorite Florida Vegan Food of 2017

For people with eating limitations, vacation can be a mixed bag. However, it’s starting to get easier and easier to find vegan food throughout the world, and Florida is a great example of a vacation destination that is bursting with plant-based options!

I’m hoping that this post can inspire some of Florida’s vegan visitors (and residents) as well as¬†make omnivores aware of how delicious vegan food in the Sunshine State can be, in hopes that they will consider reducing their meat consumption to help the environment.

After 48 hours in Hong Kong, I was starting to worry that my whole time in Hong Kong was going to be a bust.

A Morning of Beach Yoga

My absolute favorite thing about being a teacher is seeing visible progress in my students. It is so rewarding to be able to compare a student’s current piece of work with a past piece of work and see how much they have improved.

How You Can Help the Environment (without going zero waste)

Earlier this week, I wrote about how I’ve been working to create as little waste as possible. As Earth Day approaches, I’m hoping this is something that others are thinking about, too. I know I mentioned many drastic things in my previous post, but not everybody is¬†perfectly situated to make the lifestyle changes that I made.

Many people don’t have the time or money or energy to transition into a completely new lifestyle this way. However, I would like to request that you consider trying to make some of these smaller changes.

My Journey of Becoming Zero Waste (so far)

DSC_0132

When I was about 10 years old, my middle school started a recycling program for paper. Although I think many of my peers didn’t think much of it, I took the concept to heart, and I started smuggling all of my household’s paper trash to school so that I could dispose of it in the classroom recycling bin.

A Photo Tour of the Mead Gardens Wildlife

Nestled in a quiet area of Winter Park, a city just north of Orlando, is Mead Botanical Gardens. When I first visited this gem in 2015, I immediately knew I wanted to spend more time here, but it wasn’t until the spring of 2017, when I lived a little closer, that I went back for my second visit.

My Wintry Week in Ohio

After saying goodbye to Florida and dropping through Alabama for a few days, it was time to go to Ohio. My last visit had been over the summer of last year, during which I complained a lot about how it was TOO COLD; despite the fact that I spent the first 19 years of my life in Ohio, I never adapted to the cold, and I very much feel like a true Floridian, putting on a sweatshirt the moment it drops below 80F. I started this February trip with the knowledge that I was going to be miserable, but that I only had to survive for a week until I was on my way to the tropics!

A Vegan Feast with Chef TJ

Is it silly to have a bucket list item revolving around vegan food? Maybe so, but that didn’t stop me from spending years drooling over the idea of having Chef TJ cook his famous multi-course vegan meal for me!
